6 New Year's Resolutions I Know I Won't Keep

Let's be real. We all make lists of things we promise to change or do differently in the upcoming calendar year but secretly know we are about as close to keeping them as Li Lo is to a longterm stay-out of-rehab spell. I've put together a few resolutions I know I won't be keeping in 2011.  Here they are:

6. I won't update my Fb status hourly with long, extremely detailed descriptions of my entire day, #followedbyanunecessarylengthyhashtag.

5. I promise not to stop saying the word "literally" when what I really mean is not at all literal, but in fact, very figurative.

4. I will not reset my clocks to the acceptable 5 or 10 minutes fast. Me and the 12 or 13 minutes incriments get by just fine, thank you.

3. And nope, I am not going to go to bed any earlier. Neither will I plan on waking up with early bird/worm catchin' crowd.

2. I won't stop falling off my couch any time something extra ridiculous/hilarious happens on TV/to my roommates/on Fb. Literally.

And my number one un-resolution for 2011:

1. I will follow through with all of the above resolutions. I will follow through with the above resolutions ...

Happy New Year to y'all! Here's to a year full of unkept promises & unfulfilled resolutions.

Cheers,

Lorin

Spruce Up Your Monday for Under $10

Hope y'all had a lovely Christmas! And coming up next - get out your sequins, sparklers, & champagne - it's New Year's Eve.

Whether you're back at work or still enjoying time with family & friends, here are some fun ideas that won't wear a hole in your pocket and will help occupy your time until Friday night rolls around.

1. Turn on your favorite Pandora station & have an impromptu dance party as you clean the house or take down Christmas decorations. Cost: FREE. Bonus: Burn about 74 calories per 15 minutes you shake your groove thing, according to Diet Bites.

2. Wondering what to do with that really terrible present from your well-meaning Great Aunt Martha? Donate unwanted gifts to your church's outreach program or drop them off at your local Salvation Army. Cost: A few $ for gas but basically FREE. Bonus: Be a blessing to those who are in need. Greatest. feeling. in. the. world.

3. Put on your cozy sweater and leggings, then head over to an ice skating rink near you. Whether you're looking to skate in Tampa or Washington D.C., it's bound to be an afternoon of wintery fun. Cost: Around $10 for most ice rinks, including skate rentals. Bonus: Burn over 300 calories per hour.

4. Still deciding what to wear for NYE? Check out this article on dazzling do's and don'ts of party style for a little dose of inspiration. Cost: FREE - not including the sudden urge to go out and buy something shiny, of course.

What I'm Loving Wednesday

It's the middle of the week, also known as Hump Day [insert Mean Girls reference here] and What I'm Loving Wednesday. Here's a list of several things that are inspiring/amusing/getting me through the day today.

I'm loving a classy dress like this for NYE. Pink is the new pink. Break out the bubbly and your dancing shoes and let the count down to the new year begin!

After hearing about a friend's terrible, please-let-this-be-over-now coffee date last night, I'm loving that how to lose a guy in 10 minutes is only appropriate.  If laughter really is the best medicine, take two big doses. Stat.

I'm loving this fun, Christmas DIY project. Check out Everything Fabulous's tips for how to make a classy ornament wreath using just a wire hanger, ornaments, and some glue.  Start signing "Martha Stewart" as your middle name.

If you're still searching for the perfect black puffy winter coat, here it is! No really - it's 60% down, belted at the waist, and has a removable fur hood. And it's all yours for $34.98. I'm loving the price tag of this jacket. Score!

I'm loving my world-classy small group. Couldn't ask for a more lovely group of ladies to meet with each week. Together, we're a hot mess, sharing our struggles and triumphs, & growing in our love for the Lord. And it's the best part of each Wednesday :]

I'm loving a holiday take on the ever-stylish "Keep Calm & Carry On." Just makes me want to burst into song!

And another.  I can't get enough! It's just so darn festive and I'm loving how fantastic it would look hanging above my couch.

This. photo. cracks. me. up. Seriously, my friends are crazy and I'm loving all the amazing memories we've shared . . . including the times we wear fake 'staches. Just 'cause.

I'm loving pretty lights.

I'm loving that I fly home to see my family in less than a week!

I'm loving that we can say thanks to our troops who are
away from home & their families, serving our country during this holiday season.

I'm loving this song that beautifully describes the
true meaning of Christmas.

Happy Wednesday, y'all!
